Fashion’s recent twists and turns of logic have an uncanny familiarity. From tomboys and playboys to gypsies and panhandlers, the margins have become the middle. The stranger and the estranged, the maker and the made, the dreamer and that which was not dreamed. Fashion carries within it a unique ability to disseminate latent and nascent streams of consciousness. Individually and collectively, it curates memory. It brings together disparate generations and geographies, and sometimes indicates the far greater and far less perceptible transformations in the body politic.
