The 2015 Resort collections have come to a close. If you’ve already had a chance to peruse the goods, then you know there’s been a wealth of stellar catwalks. Names that spring to mind: Thom Browne, Valnetino, Lanvin, Chlöe, Elie Saab and Vera Wang. The convergence of all-things-print continues while the typography trend that has carried us through the last couple seasons is slowly waning. Surrealist brush strokes and art deco haven’t lost their allure. Versace brought ancient history back to life with pastel chartreuse and soft violets; Chlöe captured the 70’s California surf girl, and Preen Line infused everyday denim with bold color swatches, patches and crisp whites. Ombré dyes found their way into Jenny Packham and Elie Saab’s gowns; and Hugo Boss designed wo/menswear with a sharp eye for tailoring, classic lines and structure. Fausto Puglisi married the likes of mint green, leopard and blue violet in a series of looks that felt so fresh and fashion-forward; while Valentino had me seeing double. Lanvin stole my heart per usual – thin silk ties, luxe fabrics, soft hues, artfully placed roses, and silhouettes with just a hint of structure that crowned Alber Elbaz the office favorite at What Next.
