Welcome to the future.

Jonathan Saunders | Alien Suns & Cosmic Dust

In 2011, I created the macro trend forecast, Dust. This projection was not only a fashion and lifestyle trend forecast for 2013, it was also an exercise in trend methodology. Following closely on the heels of the 2011 Arab-Spring, Dust was both a political commentary on the upheaval in the Middle East as well as a complex meditation on “dust” as earth, food, art, and cosmic particle. Dust’s color schemas have already begun to surface on the runways and in trend reports from WGSN. Today, I’m excited to share several photos from Jonathan Saunders’ S/S 2014 RTW collection in concert with snapshots from the original Dust storyboards.

Of Saunders’ collection, Style.com writes:

Psychedelic sunsets shifted on screens at the end of the catwalk. Giant globes glowed like alien suns while trance music drowsily droned and opium poppies shimmered on organza. Skirts of tiered pleats, starburst floral prints, sheer Western shirts, and colored granny glasses made the models look like Manson girls minus the murderous instincts.
