Welcome to the future.

Something Borrowed, Something Blue | 2014 Wedding Trends

Ah, weddings. The dresses, the flowers, handsome grooms, joyful brides, exuberant children. It’s hard not to fall in love with all the photography that follows. Kind of an awesome job when you think about it – getting to capture this unique moment in time, full of hope and possibility, love and spirit. And then of course, there’s the ginormous industry behind the scenes offering to help you imagine and/or plan every.single.possible.detail – the bride’s shoes, the place settings, cake frosting (do you prefer fondant or buttercream?), cupcakes or cronuts, bridesmaid bouquets, and groomsmen pocket squares. You name it, odds are someone has thought about it and figured out how to market it as an “big day” inescapable necessity. Regardless of whether you buy into the importance of finding something borrowed, something blue, something old, something new, wedding photography is an awesome place to uncover trends. And of course, if you find yourself carried away in a little day-dreaming about your own “big day” or the one who got away, that works too.

If you’re in W-DAY planning mode or looking for inspiration, I’ve uncovered a couple drool-worthy sites that you should visit immediately.

StyleMePretty: Photos are uploaded from wedding photographers around the nation. A collective wedding day brain dump + the option to search by location, theme, and color palette.

Lover.ly A Pinterest-Style site devoted solely to the bride and groom (okay, mostly the bride.)
